Cuttlebug Challenge :: 5

This week's Cuttlebug Challenge is active and has been since Wednesday. Get on over and play. The challenge this week is to emboss on a metallic finish.

Oh, challenge me. I am not crazy about metallic finish. Just not my style. I've seen people work wonders with it though. The best I could do was pull out my Bazzill Bling. I do like the bling especially for wedding cards, but generally speaking, I just don't use it a lot. If you gave me a stack of it, I'd keep a couple of sheets and give it away to others.

So I did a little holiday card w/o the holiday colors. That I do like. Breaking away from the traditional. I do really like the traditional. But this card is just as fun in a different color scheme.

Oh, and I'm getting better at listing which Cuttlebug embossing folders I've used.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:
cardstock: Bazzill and Bazzill Bling
patterned paper: American Crafts
circle punches: EK Success
circle die cuts: Quickutz
stamp: Hero Arts
ink: VersaMark
embossing powder: Ranger
dry embossing: Cuttlebug Winter Jelly

Did Someone Say "Holiday Cards"?

Yeah, I know that it's a bit soon to even think about the holidays. But no one told that to the folks over @ 2Peas. And I'm okay w/that. They've been presenting some holiday card making classes. Lots of goodies and tons of ideas. All in the name of getting you prepared well in advance. That theory could work too - you nip away at the card making week by week and the next thing you know, you are all done, your cards are in the mail and you are actually enjoying the holiday season ... it is indeed a theory.

Here are some of the other cards that I made.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:
cardstock: craft supply
felt tree: Hobby Lobby
stamp: Oogaloo/Michaels/$1
ink: VersaMark
embossing powder: Ranger
star: Darice

Another Thanks :: 2 Sketches 4 You

I'm back in action on the crafting front. I was planning to travel again this weekend, but it takes such effort for me to pack and prepare for traveling that I am 80% certain that I will not go anywhere this weekend.. Thus giving me more time to craft.

Oh, if you get a chance, check out my recent article on Craft Critique about card sketch sites.

I was going to wait to work on the 2 Sketches 4 You (2S4Y) sketch, but I managed to get my ATCs done. I'm in three different ATC swaps on the SIS TV Swap Board. Fun stuff too. I have them all done and two sets will be postal sometime tomorrow. Point is, I got that done since the deadline is Monday and I was still feelin crafty, so wah-lah (sp).

Nice sketch Laura ... just simple enough yet leaving ample room to improvise. How about that bow? I am not good at tying bows. For this one, I tied the bow before I cut the ribbon from the spool. I tied the bow just like I tie my shoe laces. It worked to this, but sometimes not - get it, (k)not. ;-) Oh, and this card is a mini: 5x3.5.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:
cardstock: Bazzill
patterned paper: K&Co.
ribbon: Martha Stewart
pearls: Mark Richards
stamp: Stampabilities
ink: VersaMark and VersaMagic
embossing powder: Ranger
other: sewing

Tag Time

I made this clean cut tag because I thought that I wanted to use it for Papertrey Ink's July Blog Hop. Turns out I have another idea in mind for that ... two days and counting until the monthly Blog Hop. I just love the Blog Hop idea; so much creativity to take in.

Enjoy this treat ... here's what I used:

patterned paper: Papertrey Ink's Chocolate Remix
chipboard: Die Cuts With A View (DCWV)
stamp: Michael's $1 stamp
ink: VersaMark
embossing powder: Ranger
ribbon: Martha Stewart and ???
circle die cuts: Quickutz

It's a Birthday Card ... but late!

This card was so quick and simple to put together. I think it's because the patterned paper has so much character.

I like the heat embossing on vellum and in the Seafoam White too. And just a little hint, I used the bling to sort of hide the glue dots. This is a mini card; something like 3 1/2 x 4.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:
cardstock: SEI
patterned paper: SEI's Jolie Chocolat
vellum: The Paper Studio
stamp: Inkadinkadoo
embossing powder: Ranger
bling: Dress It Up

Birthday RAK and cps :: 73

I made this card as a RAK - random act of kindness. It's a group on Splitcoast Stampers. There is no real commitment; you just send out as many cards as you like. I've been picking a handful of names and sending out cards weekly. There are over 3 thousand members of this group so it's nice that you can do as much or as little as you want.

For this card, I used this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems - CPS. Love, love, love that site (last week they did an article about sewing on cards and layouts - very cool).

I wanted another look for this card, but the huge rick rack is the closest I could get to a wave. I might improvise and do another before the week is out, but that would be awfully ambitious.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:
cardstock: Bazzill
patterned paper: My Mind's Eye
rick rack: Karen Foster
stamp: Stampin Up!
ink: VersaMagic
embossing powder: Ranger
other: sewing

sketch this :: 57

Loving the sketches these days. Probably because I have time to create. Nice.
Now for this sketch, I used a sketch this sketch. Then I pulled out some old paper - American Crafts. I was seeking some other lavender/lilac combination, but I got tired of looking and settled for this. I also pulled out the easy to use $1 clear stamps from Michaels for the Happy Birthday. I don't like the way the birthday turned out, but oh, well. Then there's the embossed birthday cake. I 'borrowed' that embossing folder from my sister.

Finally, the only thing that is missing is I put a little bling to dot the 'i' in birthday. Forgot to do that before I took the pic.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:
cardstock: Bazzill and Bazzill Bling
patterned paper: American Crafts
stamp: Studio G ($1 stamps from Michaels)
ink: VersaMagic
embossing powder: Joanns
ribbon: Michaels and Wright's
dry embossing folder: Cuttlebug

New Home Cards

Some of my friends are thrilled that it summer and I have been making cards non-stop. I have a friend who is relocating and she loves to send our note cards. So I volunteered to make some cards for her and her hubby.

I like these. They were easy enough and fun. What I like that you can't see is that I used the computer to print their new address on the inside (I just thought that maybe I should have included their cell phone numbers too - oh, well). I only made 12, but that's a start. I won't have the entire summer to make cards, ya know ...

Here's what I used:
cardstock: Bazzill and craft supply
patterned paper: Basic Grey
ribbon: various
stamp: Michaels $1
ink: VersaMark
embossing powder: Ranger
square punch: Marvy

Using Some Scraps ...

... I was trying to do something different and unique. The end result is not quite what I had in mind, but I kinda like it. The tag is chipboard. I tried to heat emboss w/platinum embossing powder. The look is okay, but not the best.

I also got the scalloped look buy using my corner rounder. Oh, and the sewing; I am just keeping at it. I still need to work on my corners.
