Birthday RAK and cps :: 73

I made this card as a RAK - random act of kindness. It's a group on Splitcoast Stampers. There is no real commitment; you just send out as many cards as you like. I've been picking a handful of names and sending out cards weekly. There are over 3 thousand members of this group so it's nice that you can do as much or as little as you want.

For this card, I used this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems - CPS. Love, love, love that site (last week they did an article about sewing on cards and layouts - very cool).

I wanted another look for this card, but the huge rick rack is the closest I could get to a wave. I might improvise and do another before the week is out, but that would be awfully ambitious.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:
cardstock: Bazzill
patterned paper: My Mind's Eye
rick rack: Karen Foster
stamp: Stampin Up!
ink: VersaMagic
embossing powder: Ranger
other: sewing

Wolrdwide Stamping Week Winner

I recently hosted my first challenge on Two Peas. It was nice to have sooooo many participants. The challenge was to use the Cuttlebug and stamping. Super simple and fun.

And the winner was: Gram-Pea!

I like the colors and the details and the creativity in this card.

I picked up a few items for the Random Act of Kindness (RAK) but I will pull it all together when I return home, not this week, but the following week. It will be worth the wait.

To see most of the other entries, for loads of inspiration, visit my TwoPeas blog.

Worldwide Stamping Week Challenge

Okay folks ... over on Two Peas there is a great deal of fun to be had (and lots of prizes too).

It is Worldwide Stamping Week (WSW). It's an event that was started by some of the Peas on the Stamping Board. There are a gazillion challenges - some w/RAKs (random acts of kindness) and others just encouraging stampers to be creative. Lots of fun.

So much fun, that I decided to host my very first challenge: The Cuttlebug MID-WEEK Challenge (from Wednesday, June 18, 2008 until Saturday, June 21, 2008).

For details head over to Two Peas. Sorry, but in order to participate you will need to follow the guidelines that are posted there. There is a RAK, though that has not yet been determined since I am traveling.

Oh, but for this challenge, you need to use your Cuttlebug along w/some stamping. I love the Cuttlebug embossing, but you could just use a Cuttlebug die. Way too much fun, huh?

I hope that you join in.

Paying It Forward

This post is just remotely related to card making. I recently relocated. It was an interesting move - one that I am not really willing to talk about ... but my glass table top did get busted. Well, they aren't cheap. But a national store in my neighborhood had them on sale - 50% off - only their delivery fee was $90.

I ordered the glass top and asked a friend to make herself available to help me out; my friend is M.I.A. and I needed to get the item quick or the store would have to put it on the selling floor.

I called them to arrange an extension and out of the goodness of their hearts (or feeling sorry for me), they offered to bring it to my house (please keep in mind that the shopping district is about a block away, which is why I did not get the delivery).

So, long story short - I gave the woman who delivered the tabletop some of my handmade cards to say 'thanks' - there was a guy involved too, but I gave him a giftcard to an area grocery store.

I had sat down about a week ago to do some crafting. I only took out a few things - stamping tools and I made exactly eight cards and they have been just sitting on the counter. So I bundled them up and dropped them off. Now, I'll have to pay it forward ... love that!
