2 Peas Stamp Camp :: Week 3 and 2 Sketches 4 You

I'm double dipping for this card. I like it.

2 Peas' Stamp Camp continues this week. The technique is background stamping. Very nice video and examples from Nicol Magouirk. The background stamping on this card came out more subtle that I would have liked. I guess I could have used black ink to get it to pop. I had wanted to heat emboss it, but I could not find my VersaMagic ink.

I also decided to combine Stamp Camp w/this week's 2 Sketches 4 You sketch. This week is Laura's sketch. Like always, the sketch allows for lots of improv.

I love my Tim Holtz stamp ... I am trying real hard not to purchase more of them. Just not really my turn to stimulate the economy. But that ribbon was a good get. It was something like 15 cents a yard at Cord Camera. I might go back and see if they still have some because I really like it.

And how about that journaling spot ... Jillibean Soup. I plan to get more of these. I know that the come in circles too. And maybe different colors.

Color Inspiration 27 and cps :: 87

I'm just a bit behind in getting this done and posting. So much so that this week's winner has already been posted for the Color Inspiration. But it's not always about winning, now is it? Besides this card fulfills not one, but two challenges. Actually, the card is also based on this week's Card Positioning Systems sketch.

The Color Inspiration Challenge is very cool. Helps me to diversify my color palette. Otherwise, I'd only use olive green and brown. This week's color was red or pink as the main color.

I'm sort of feeling this card. I used up some scraps. I also made it open face. I like my interpretation of the cps sketch because I did not follow the sketch inch for inch.

Simple Things :: cps 77

I finally got around to making a card based on this week's Card Positioning Systems (CPS) sketch. Their sponsor is Inque. I meant to use some of the Inque Boutique stamps that I have, but as you can see I did not do any stamping on this one.

It's a good looking card, I'll say for myself. At least one that I like. I did not like the first row of stitching when I started and I almost ditched the whole thing. But I kept sewing. I thought that the stitch was too wide. And I used craft thread, which is a bit thicker and the stitches need to be further apart.

I'm really into the grungy look = distressed edges. I pulled out the old guitar picks from AMM and the old American Crafts ribbon too. Good stuff. Using up the stash. Oh, this is an open-faced card.

Just Another Card

Here's a card that has somehow been neglected. I mean, I made it some time ago and mailed it off so what I hope was a happy recipient. Then I discovered the image in a folder where there were no other cards images. Now, how did it get there ... ?

Ooooh, I took a lot of time on this one. So many details. But no matter how simple or detailed, I just love making cards.

I am still a beginner in the sewing arena - and it shows, maybe not w/this card, but I need more practice. Luckily, I'm crafty enough that I can cover up my mistakes. ;-)

I really, really, really like this card. I made it for a friend - who almost did not get it. She had asked me to make her a set of Valentine's Day cards. This is one of the six.

Queen of Hearts

I absolutely love hearts. I would like to think that I have every heart die cut that exists (if I have a machine to use it in).

So the design of these cards is super easy. The embossing adds a really nice touch too. How about that lil sentiment? I purchased those last year at Michaels - they were $1 for two. Nice.

Basic Grey papers make my crafting so much easier. It's very classy, yet vintage. I like muted colors too (if you had not noticed).

I took a minute to create a card (actually two) based on a sketch this design. The layout is so simple, yet lends room for lots of creativity and lots of fun too.

I'm new to sewing (which is shameful since my mom is a self-taught seamstress). There is a lot going on w/this card, so I thought a simple straight stitch would add a nice touch.

I love the look of cardboard, so there it is - taking up space.

Aren't those hearts adorable? They are dies from CuttleKids. I took a gamble and got them. They do work in the Cuttlebug, but you have to use the sandwich/directions for using a Quickutz die. What a deal on these dies!

I was trolling the web the other day when I stumbled across $3 dies on the Sizzix site. I dropped one in the cart; then two ... and the next thing I know I'm up to $25 for five dies. One is a large heart, which I've used the already. The others are a frame, a small envelope, stars (in 3 sizes) and a mini file folder.

Good stuff.

I use my dies in the Cuttlebug. I really like the dies that cut through chipboard.
