The Making of a Mini Book

I got started on this mini book late last week. Well, actually, the week before. I'd been on Donna Downey's blog and she posted a video about making album pages using newspaper. So I got out the old newspapers and my glue stick and started on the pages. After tearing and gluing and inking up my fingers something awful, I had about six pages. I let them dry and then I used one layer of acrylic paint and I let that dry. That's when I took a break.

What to do w/these messy pages ... I finally jotted down some items that I could include in an "All About Me" album. I've been wanting to make more mini books ... why not now?

Well, I've made much progress, but it's an interesting process for me. The very reason why I like to make cards - I feel that I can do nothing else until this album is complete. Bummer for me especially since I had to order a wallet-sized picture of my Jeep; that would be a 'special' order ... maybe it will arrive in the mail tomorrow.

Meanwhile ... here's a look at the cover. Love this. Oh another thing, I decided that I would only use scraps and other embellishments that were laying around and/or had never been used before. I like the collage/eclectic look too.

Thanks for looking ... here's what I used:

base: cardboard
patterned paper: K&Co. Basic Grey, craft supply
chipboard elements: American Crafts
twine: Darice
flower: Prima
letter stickers: American Crafts and Paper Studio
button and bling: unknown
stamp: Inkadinkadoo

other: Fiskars Texture Plates

Ut oh, late again!

My step-father's birthday was on Monday. Shame on me - a card maker who doesn't get the cards out on time. Yep, that's me. Lucky me I've got this cute little "Happy Belated Birthday" stamp to smooth things over (and it might help if I put a little something in the card, right?).

Oh, I used a sketch from Triple the Sketch's blog.

Here's what I used:
cardstock: Bazzill
patterned paper: Basic Grey
ribbon: Michaels
stamp: Kathy Davis/Inkadinkadoo
ink: VersaMark
embossing powder: Ranger
brackets: Bazzill Just The Edge Cardstock Strips
vellum: The Paper Studio

All About the Pink & Black

Such a cute color combination. I was surprised when I purchased the DCWV (Die Cuts With A View) paper pack called All That Glitters. I like a little bling, but not over the top. I had intended to give the pack away as a gift, but as I flipped through it, I got some ideas and I said, you know I'm going to keep this one.

So I finally got around to using it. It's another mini card set (2 @ 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 and 1 @ 4 x 4). I like the minis and I have some envelopes that they fit in as well. I guess I could make some envelopes too, huh?

Here are the goods:
card base: Bazzill and craft supply
cardstock: DCWV's The All Dressed Up Matstack and craft supply
ribbon: Michaels
rick rack: The Paper Studio
Circle punch: EK Success and Sizzix
sentiments: Making Memories
black chipboard: craft supply
rhinestone flowers: Dress It Up
additional bling: unknown
